Our artist and writer friends tell us our Cathedral Room is the one that inspires the most creativity, and it’s little wonder. You can almost feel presence of the ages in this cozy burrow.
Located in the oldest section of the house, the Cathedral Room showcases exposed, rustic stone walls and a plaster cathedral ceiling, supported by exposed, two-century-old red oak barn beams. The queen bed nestles beneath a rescued headboard on the original pumpkin pine floor, which carries the rich burnish of centuries of footfalls.
Its burgundy-and-white tiled bath features a glass-enclosed steam shower and the best view in the house. It overlooks stately silver maples, pin oaks, flower beds and the more than 250-year-old Pennsylvania bank barn. You may even catch the ultimate pastoral scene when our sheep—Ben and Ippie—and Billie the Goat come out to graze in their run.
Any time of day is beautiful in this unique room with its high windows and stained glass light, but we think you’ll especially enjoy sundown in the embroidered rocker opposite the open loft.
What our guests are saying…
We really loved the comfort of the Cathedral Room, and especially the steam shower.
A wonderfully comfortable bed, thank you so much for looking after us.
